Summer Camp Weekly Themes – All Locations 

For children ages 4-12

Week 1 | The Mighty Jungle

Hippos & rhinos & crocs oh my! Campers will be going on a safari through our jungle! An exciting week to let out your inner animal!

Week 2 | Out of This World

Campers will explore all of the imaginary universe’s around us! From wizards, to heroes, to a galaxy far far away. Each day we will step out of our world and into another.

Week 3 | Happy Campers

Our day camp is going camping! We will be bringing the great outdoors and all of the traditional camping adventures into our day camps for a different kind of camping experience while also exploring how to recycle and make use of our everyday items to have fun with!

Week 4 | Time Travelers

Not just a day trip but a trip through time! We’ll visit different centuries, the future, and go through a year in one day! This week will be all over space and time.

Week 5 | The Olympic Universe

Earn your own gold medal in this week designed to celebrate the Olympic Games. Groups will learn more about the games and the events in them while also learning about countries involved!

Week 6 | Animation Station

A week filled with everything Cartoon. Activities and games this week will be based around today’s popular cartoons and some of our staff’s favourites from when they were kids!

Week 7 | X Marks the Spot

A week of hunts, searches and adventure! We’ll be on the look out for clues & hints all week long to complete the task!

Week 8 | Anything Goes!

This may seem like a crazy idea, but we are pushing camp to the limits! We will be getting messy, playing our summer favourites and closing out the summer by making sure Anything Goes (well almost anything)!

Youth Summer Camp Programs – West End Location 

For children ages 12 to 15 

Week 1 | Leadership 101

Problem solving, conflict resolution, communication and finding the leader within, will all be discussed in an engaging positive atmosphere through games and activities. We want to find our next group of great leaders and give them the tools to lead not just at BGC but in all aspects of what they do.

Week 2 | Out of This World

Campers will explore all of the imaginary universe’s around us! From wizards, to heroes, to a galaxy far far away. Each day we will step out of our world and into another.

Week 3 | Who Dunnit?

A week full of putting your wits to the test to help us solve some tricky camp mysteries, crimes, finding imposters & joining us in hunts in a week full of suspense and intrigue!

Our Leader in Training program will focus on service to the club and community, teamwork, leadership and learning for life. Youth members will have an opportunity to get volunteer experiences with younger groups to see work experiences with the support of our staff.

Some old game shows, some new game shows. We will challenge campers with many games and physical challenges throughout the week!

Week 8 | Anything Goes!

*Please Note: Each year, guardians are required to update all of your Member Information through our RecDesk forms. Once you have completed the forms for the 2023-2024 school year, you will not be required to complete the forms again until the next year. These forms will be shared across all of our locations, so if you attend a program at another one of our locations you will not need to complete these forms a second time. However, as always we urge Parents/ Guardians/Caregivers to ensure that contact and medical information is always up-to-date and contact us with any changes throughout the course of the year.

Week 1 | Crafty Kids

A time for kids to engage their imaginations! A week of colours, creations, building and using things all around us to construct something cool!

Week 2 | All Sorts of Sports

This is the week to try new sports! We will be playing a lot of sports you’ve heard of but also a whole bunch you haven’t! This is a great camp for any camper who wants to stay active and maybe find a new favourite sport.

Week 3 | RE-Create

We will be repurposing recyclables and household items to RE-Create amazing new crafts all week long! Every camper will be thinking outside the box and looking at things they use daily in a new fun light all while being creative!

Week 4 | Hoop It Up

Learn the basics of basketball through a week full of fun, exciting games. We’ll keep campers moving all day long with not just basketball but games, workouts and weekly goals to accomplish! All skill levels welcomed.

Week 5 | Mad Science

From experiments to structure building we will be testing science through our own camp experiments! We’ll mix things to see what happens, build things out of everyday materials and put household items to the test of science.

BGC South East understands and recognizes the need for inclusive support services in their recreation and licensed summer camp programs. 

Although we may be able to offer some support services for children who require 1:1 support, please note, we have a very limited capacity to support new children to our support roster this summer, depending on the week/ location required/requested.

One-to-One (1:1) Support

One-to-one support will be considered and assigned (resources permitting) to children/youth who require one-to-one support in order to attend and be successful in the program. Such children have intensive or frequent needs in one or more domains (self care/toileting, safety and supervision, physical aggression, high medical needs, intensive communication support)

 

**Parents/Guardians who do not inquire prior to registering,can not assume support will be available, and may have their registration canceled due to the unavailability of services**

Completing your registration to include Support Services

If it has been confirmed by the Program Inclusion and Behaviour Support Team that there is support available for your child for your requested weeks, when completing the registration process, please choose the “APPLYING FOR INCLUSION” fee type, and select the Inclusion 1:1 Support add on.  (Note, if  you are also applying for subsidy, please choose the “APPLYING FOR SUBSIDY + INCLUSION” option)

This will not generate a fee to be paid at the time of checkout, as we will complete a final confirmation with Parents/Guardians (after the registration is complete) that support services are available for the chosen week/location before we will require payment. Upon confirmation, the Inclusion Team will adjust/add the required camp fee to your invoice. The deposit fee ($50.00 per week) will be due immediately, with remaining fees due on May 31st. All fees must be paid according to this schedule to hold your space in the camp otherwise the spaces will be released. 

If we are unable to support your child due to:

  1. support services for each week/location being full 
  2. Parent/Guardian did not choose the appropriate accommodation /details upon checkout, therefore not indicating to our staff team support was required, OR
  3. The Parent/Guardian were not clear about their child’s needs 

We will contact Parents/Guardians and inform you that support is not available and will proceed to cancel your child’s registration in the program. 

We appreciate your understanding and support as we work hard to ensure our programs are inclusive and accessible.

If you are planning on applying for BGC Child Care Fee Assistance Programs through the City of Kingston Child Care Subsidy Program or PELASS, please ensure you have registered for all weeks of camp required, choosing “APPLYING FOR SUBSIDY” option at checkout.  (Note, if  you are also applying for inclusion support, please choose the “APPLYING FOR SUBSIDY + INCLUSION” option)

Once the registration has been completed, please reach out to your site specific contact (contact information listed below) and request the paperwork and application. Confirmation of Space forms will be sent to the City of Kingston or PELASS (depending on your mailing address, not the camp location) during the first week of May. If subsidy is not approved, you will have the option to immediately pay the $50 non-refundable deposit per week and the remainder by due dates or completely withdraw. 

The location of your subsidy application will be dependent on your mailing address, not where the camp is being offered. 

EXAMPLE: If you live within the City of Kingston, but your child(ren) will be attending camp in Loyalist Township, your subsidy application will be submitted to the City of Kingston. 

If you reside in Loyalist Township, but your child(ren) will be attending summer camp at a location within the City of Kingston, your subsidy application will be submitted to PELASS (Prince Edward Lennox Addington Social Services)

To qualify for the City of Kingston or the PELASS subsidy program you must:  

  • Reside in either;
  • Kingston & Frontenac boundaries, OR
  • Prince Edward County or the County of Lennox and Addington
  • Each parent/guardian is either employed, or enrolled in an educational or training program
  • Each parent/guardian has filed their income taxes for the most recent tax year
  • If you or your child has a documented special need, and have been referred by a professional, you may also be eligible
  • If you are a new immigrant to Canada this year, you may apply without your most recent tax return** (PELASS Specific)

***If you reside in Prince Edward County or the County of Lennox and Addington, and you are applying for subsidy, Parents/Guardians/Caregivers must ALSO complete an application through the PELASS office in addition to the paperwork that BGC will submit on your behalf. Parents/Guardians/Caregivers can access the application forms through PELASS by either calling the office (613-354-0957) or online by clicking here***

Refund Policy:

Refund Policy 

  1. If a financial reimbursement is requested 10 business days (2 weeks) prior to the program/camp commencing then a refund will be issued in the form of a cheque, minus a non refundable deposit of $50 per week per child.
  2. If a credit for a future BGC South East program is requested the full amount paid will be applied.  This credit must be used within one year of request. NO CASH VALUE
  3. No refund or credit will be given if the request is less than 10 business days (2 weeks) notice.
